The story behind the artwork

This artwork comes from my extended painted canvas study of the Blue Jean Tanager - a vibrant little songbird native to Trinidad, where my mother is from. Often seen flitting through branches in flashes of blue, these birds are believed to represent hope, new beginnings, and a deeper connection to our ancestors and our spiritual heritage. These themes guided the colours, movement, and emotion in the final canvas.
