These coasters feature a high-quality print taken from my original painted canvas study of the Great Kiskadee - a bright, lively bird from Guyana, my father’s homeland.

This sweet little Kiskadee has been over a year in the making. I chose to include him in my Heritage Collection because he represents the vibrancy, aliveness, and bold spirit of Guyana. A fun fact about him - his chirp sounds like “Kiss-kad-dee,” which is how he got his name.

Native to South America and Central America, the Great Kiskadee lives on insects, small vertebrates, and fruits.

Each coaster is printed to high standards here in the UK, creating a set that is both gorgeous and full of character.

The story behind the artwork

This Kiskadee is part of my Heritage Collection, created to honour the roots and stories of my family. He represents the vibrant spirit of Guyana, my father’s homeland. His cheerful “Kiss-kad-dee” call inspired both his name and the energy of this artwork. Alongside the Blue Jean Tanager for my mother and the Cardinals for my grandmother, this little bird holds a special place in my heart.
